Our Dentists
Dr. Arie Barkats
General Dentist
Originally from Marseille, France, Dr. Arie Barkats earned his dental degree from Touro University College of Dental Medicine in New York. He and his wife and daughter chose to settle in the Cleveland area to be closer to family and serve a community they are proud to call home.
Dr. Barkats is honored to continue the tradition of excellence established by Dr. DeCarlo while incorporating the latest advancements in dental technology and evidence-based care. Committed to lifelong learning, he regularly pursues advanced training to provide the most effective and comfortable treatment options.
He believes exceptional dentistry begins with listening. By taking the time to understand each patient’s unique needs, Dr. Barkats creates personalized treatment plans in a welcoming environment where patients of all ages feel comfortable and confident in their care.
Dr. Francesco DeCarlo
General Dentist
Dr. Francesco DeCarlo earned his bachelor’s degree followed by his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1988 from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. Upon graduation, he joined the practice of Dr. Marvin Cohen, founder of Dental Health Services and they practiced together for 23 years until Dr. Cohen retired in 2011.
Dr. DeCarlo is a member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, and Akron Dental Association, and Dental Aid Group. He has been a long-time member of the Akron Seattle Study Club and was an attending at the Summa Health System Dental Residency Program.
Dr. DeCarlo and his wife Kelli, a dental hygienist practicing part time and adjunct faculty at Stark State College, live in Copley. Together they have two sons Anthony and Joseph - Joseph is currently attending Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine.
In 2026, Dr. DeCarlo transitioned his practice to Dr. Arie Barkats, but still continues to practice one day a week. Now he has more time to enjoy his passion of skiing, golf, basketball and travelling to his favorite place – Italy.
